Things I Should Start Doing to Become the Best Version of Myself - Part One

New Year, New Me! That's mostly what we are aiming right? To leave the past behind and start anew. I personally love new years because it sets up the vibe of your next 365 days. And what better way to do that than to think of ways to become the better version of yourself, right?

As a mom, I often put myself at the bottom of my priority list but I realized, I wouldn't be able to become a better mom if I am continuously losing myself.

Becoming the best version of myself has been on my priority list lately. Life can be so busy and overwhelming that we forget to take a step back and ask ourselves,
"Am I truly living the life I want?" So this year, I’m making an intentional effort to embrace these little changes that will help me grow, thrive, and find joy in my everyday life.

Here’s my personal journey to becoming the best version of me.

Taking My Spiritual Growth Seriously

I am a Christian girlie but I have been drowned with so many responsibilities that I often neglect my quiet times and devotions. Spiritual growth is important to me, hence, this year I will take it more seriously. I wanted to stay grounded in faith and set spiritual goals on top of all the other goals I am setting for myself. Whether it’s through prayer, meditation, or dedicating time to reading the Bible, I want to nurture my spirit and deepen my connection with God, and also share the same faith with my family.

Living a Healthier Life

Now in my 30s and I know I'm feeling a little extra weak every time. It’s time to prioritize my body and mind. If I want to be with my kids longer, if I still want to pursue my dreams - I have to love me and that means intentionally living a healthier life. Eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep are small but powerful steps to feeling my best every day.

Part of our weekly routine is creating our weekly meal plans - this ensures that we eat more homecooked meals rather than fast food, take out food. This also helps in balancing our meals from veggies to fish, fruits, meats, grains, etc. I also started tracking my water intake and started taking care of my skin. This year is a continuation - I will keep listening to my body.

Nurturing Relationships

I will be like a mirror this year: call who calls me, message who messages me, be with people who spend time with me, and ignore people who don't care about me. Though relationships are the heart of life, it's time to set healthy boundaries and nurture relationships that are significant in my life.  I’m committing to spending quality time with the people I care about and being more present for my family and friends.

Spending Wisely

Money has always been one of our challenges and I don't want to go back to those moments where we struggled so hard that we can't even buy food. Managing my finances better will help me focus on what truly matters. Working hard and making wise decisions can help me turn that 'love-hate' relationship with money into a better, smooth-sailing friendship. Money is easy to find - only if you know where and how to look for it. It will take care of you if you know how to take care of it - but never ever make money your god. That's what I am always reminding myself. My goal is not to be a richy-rich girlie but to enjoy the fruit of my labor and provide a better, comfortable life/future for my family.

By spending mindfully and saving for meaningful goals, I can build a more secure and fulfilling life.

Doing More of What I Love

No more settling for less. When I started working from home, I got more time to do things that filled my heart with joy. These are simple things that I wasn't able to do when I was traveling back and forth to work. Things like journaling, quiet times in the morning, reading, baking, and writing. I was able to go back to school too!

My love language is quality time - and part of becoming the best version of myself is becoming a better mom and wife and enjoying as much family time as I can, especially now that our kids are growing so fast, we can't keep up! Scheduling dates with my boys, going to church every Sunday, and setting weekends as family time is something I would want to do more and I will!

Doing things I enjoy is a reminder that life is about more than just responsibilities.

As we step into this new year, let’s remind ourselves that becoming the best version of ourselves doesn’t happen overnight—it’s a long journey. It’s about making intentional changes, one step at a time, and showing up every day, choosing to be 1% better.

For me, this journey is about embracing growth, focusing on what truly matters, and finding joy in the simple moments. It’s about aiming to be healthier, more grounded in faith, more connected to loved ones, and more intentional about how I spend my time and energy.
